Wind Turbines

Wind Turbines basically work the opposite way to an electric cooling fan. Rather than using electricity to turn the fan we can use the wind to turn a very large fan and convert this movement back into electricity.

Wind Turbines deliver electricity whenever the rotor is turning. So, once the batteries are full, the electricity has to be used (wasted by means of a diversion load or be used to heat water e.g.) or the wind turbine must be stopped to prevent the generator from running and thus producing electricity.

In off-grid situations the electricity produced is usually stored in batteries so that it can be used when it is needed. Also this electrical energy can be injected into the mains after being converted into alternate current by the help of an inverter.
